Get that cheese grater going against the grain wearing me down

Saturday practice went well scored a goal and got my number. I wanted Carriger, but it was taken so I got number 8 (Gerrard)

Sunday I played a scrimmage with the over 40 guys, and while I did manage a goal, I missed a far better chance and it's one I'll be seeing in my sleep for a while. I couldn't believe the space I had, and instead of taking the shot, I tried to play it across and we ended up going backwards. I keep getting asked to play up front, which I've never done before, so I don't have a real striker's mentality. Not sure I like this Striker business, your touches are contingent upon service that may or may not be there, it can be frustrating, and if you range back too far to get the ball then you are oft out of position.

Later I took a mighty tumble, and scrapped the skin of the left side of my body from calf to shoulder. The worst areas are on my calf, my left butt cheek and my forearm. I have these little cuts on my hand that make me look like a junkie. So I was awake a lot last night feeling like I need a skin graft.

When I did sleep I dreamed that this blog was made into a musical, and was playing at Six Flags. the reviews were poor, and I was embarrassed.

Oh and playing a game at 2 pm when the temp is 100 and there is no shade at all, is embracing the heat fully.

Netflix-The party monster shockumentary (I always hated club kids)Also a punk documentary that's running on IFC which was pretty good.

Random question; What was the first R rated film you saw? Mine was 'Eat my dust' Staring Ron Howard My father took my sister and me, and I just remember feeling so tense at every cuss word, and there were tons of them. It wasn't worth it. The first one I enjoyed was Fast times at Ridgemont high (snuck in) and Scanners (also a sneak job) you?

Live at the Music Mill Theater, it's "Pills Thrills & Bellyaches."
Rest assured, if this blog is ever turned into a musical, I will be on the front row on premiere night, even though I hate musicals.

My first PG movie was "The Great Waldo Pepper." It featured Robert Redford and a bi-plane (which I was into when I was 7) so my Dad took me.

I think my first rated R movie was Jaws. But I'm not sure that Jaws was rated R. However I did see "Eat My Dust" with Ron Howard, so that may also be my first R movie by default. All I remember about that movie was that Ron was a dork with a hot rod car that he used to pick up some chick that didn't really like him. I can't believe I don't know what kind of car it was, seeing as I'm a car freak. I think it was a Camaro.

What the name of the punk docu on IFC? I will make a point of watching that as I love any documentaries, especially if they're about punk rock.

I hated Party Monster. I hated it because club kids are pointless and destructive, but in a way that is much more irratating than punk kids who can be pointless and destructive --- they're just cooler about it. I turned off Party Monster on first viewing. And then I caught it again on IFC later and finished the movie. I couldn't tell you why.

For such a spare film, scanners was a big player.

I remember an adult from a row in front of us got up and muttered 'this is an insult to my intelligence'

Me and Kevin looked at each other as if to say 'it's not insulting OUR intelligence' of course it wasn't

According to the All Movie Guide, "Eat My Dust" was PG. So was Jaws. I'm pretty sure the first R rated movie I saw in the theater involved boobs. So I'm going to have to saw the first R rated movie I saw happened in the 7th Grade when I got in to see "Conan the Barbarian." It was terrible but there were boobs shown.

For those who are interested, here's what the All Movie Guide has to say about the great Eat My Dust:

"Charles B. Griffith, author of Little Shop of Horrors, was the writer/director of the low-budget Eat My Dust!. Ron Howard heads the cast as Hoover Niebold, the hell-raising son of rural sheriff Harry Niebold (Warren Kemmerling). The sheriff is forced to chase after his own son when Hoover and his girlfriend Darlene (Christopher Norris) steal a racing car and zoom off to parts unknown. Joining the pursuit is the car's owner, professional racer Big Bubba Jones (Dave Madden). Watch for Ron Howard's dad Rance and brother Clint in supporting parts, and also for Paul Bartel in a bit role."

Leave it to me to post based on incorrect info....uh so it's down to either Scanners, Fast times, or Excalibur for me.

Eat my dust seemed R to me, cause I felt the blow of every cuss word sitting there with my dad.

Scanners and Excalibur were 1981 and fast times was 1982. So there you have it.
